The kootenay lifestyle
Are you tired of the pace and stress of urban living? If you are looking for a lifestyle change, then Columbia Power Corporation may have a career for you! We are based in Castlegar, British Columbia, in the south eastern corner of the province. With a population of approximately 16,000, Castlegar is centrally located in the greater area known as the West Kootenay. Surrounded by spectacular lakes and mountains, we live in the perfect four season recreational area.
Together with the nearby communities of Nelson, Trail and Rossland, the area boasts numerous world class golf courses, hiking trails, great fishing and two of the best ski hills in BC (some would say the world)—Whitewater and Red Mountain! No matter which community you choose to live in, you’re only a short drive to any number of fantastic recreational activities.
This area has every amenity that you’ll find in the big city, and no lack of culture—Nelson is known as the Biggest Little Arts Town in Canada. Selkirk College has campuses in Castlegar, Nelson and Trail, offering a wide variety of programs, including two-year university transfer courses. Nelson has the distinction of being home to the renowned Kootenay School of the Arts, as well as the Nelson Waldorf School. The local school districts offer French immersion programs, with Castlegar schools offering Russian immersion as well.
Travel to and from the area is easy—Castlegar has an airport serviced by Air Canada Tango with daily flights to Vancouver and Calgary. Spokane, Washington is a 3 hour drive from Castlegar, with Calgary and Vancouver being approximately 6 and 8 hours, respectively. Both Kelowna and Cranbrook, the largest commercial centres close by, are less than 4 hours from Castlegar, and both have an international airport.
Housing is affordable, the air is clear, the water pristine, the views spectacular, and there’s no rush hour traffic! It’s the perfect place to raise a family or retire to.
Columbia Power Corporation is a dynamic company on the move, and we’d like to give you the opportunity to move forward with us. Click on the link below to view the positions we are currently offering:
