Community Consultation
Columbia Power Corporation (CPC) is committed to working with communities within the Columbia Basin to help create a lasting legacy for all residents. CPC works with local businesses and residents to develop power projects that will benefit the Columbia Basin socially, economically and environmentally.

Public input and consultation is an important part of all CPC power projects. Before any project begins, detailed public consultation is conducted, and studies of the environment, wildlife, water resources, vegetation, archaeology, First Nations traditional use and technical information are completed.

In order to ensure the public remains informed of a project during construction, CPC staff attend area trade fairs and conferences, regular radio ads are aired, print ads are published, public meetings and project open houses are held, direct information is mailed to households and post project updates are placed on the CPC website. In addition, during major construction projects, an independent Socio-Economic Monitor is hired, and a Community Impact Management Committee, made of local residents along with municipal and regional representatives, is formed. The committee provides ongoing support to encourage positive community impacts and benefits, and relays community concerns resulting from construction of the project.
