slocan pool property
In 1994, Columbia Power Corporation (CPC) acquired a picturesque 46-acre forested parcel of land located on the Kootenay River, near South Slocan, BC.
To help determine the best public use for this historic property, and to develop a plan to manage the land, CPC formed the Slocan Pool Advisory Committee in 1999. The Committee members were local residents who provided input on historical, recreational, cultural and commercial values as they worked to develop the Plan.
Because this land is a popular hiking area, CPC undertakes trail maintenance on an annual basis to remove danger trees along pathways and to maintain the property. Assistance in trail maintenance has been provided by local outdoor groups, as well as Selkirk College's Recreational, Fish and Wildlife students. Descriptive signage has been placed along the trail and seating is located at strategic locations for the benefit of trail users.
This beautiful property is now enjoyed year-round by local residents.
