COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM MANDATE
Columbia Power Corporation (Columbia Power) believes that everyone has a responsibility to contribute to the well-being and advancement of communities in the area in which they live or conduct business. The Community Sponsorship Program is one way in which Columbia Power works to help build strong partnerships and vibrant communities across the Columbia Basin.
The Columbia Basin encompasses a vast area with many communities. To achieve the widest distribution of funds within the region, Columbia Power's Community Sponsorship Program looks to provide smaller sources of support to as many eligible projects as possible.
The Community Sponsorship Program has benefited a wide range of community initiatives including those focusing on:
- Environment
- Youth
- Arts and Culture
- Heritage
- Education
- Sports/Recreation
- First Nations
Before completing an application, please review the following criteria to determine whether you are eligible for funding support.
ELIGIBILITY
Sponsorship applicants must have a non-profit registration number (except municipalities and school districts). This can either be a registered federal charitable tax number or a BC Society registration number.Please refer to the following list of organizations/activities that are not eligible for funding under the Community Sponsorship Program. NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING
- political parties or lobby groups
- organizations whose services are not available to all segments of the public (i.e. – organizations based on race, religious preference or national origin)
- organizations, projects and other activities outside the Columbia Basin
- single disease organizations
- organizations which do not have registered non-profit status
- on-going, year-to-year commitments for funds
- large construction projects
- travel expenses out of the Columbia Basin sports team equipment and/or uniforms

Sponsorship application forms are also available at the Columbia Power Corporation office in Castlegar at: 445-13th Avenue, Suite 200. You can request that an application form be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to you by calling Kathleen Hart at 250-304-6047 (Kathleen.Hart@columbiapower.org).
COMPLETING THE APPLICATION
The Sponsorship Application Form (PDF) must be completed in its entirety and include necessary attachments (budget, most recent financial statement, any applicable brochures). Applications will not be processed unless all information is complete.

DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR SPONSORSHIP
There is no deadline for submissions to the Community Sponsorship Program but applicants are encouraged to submit an application well in advance of their project start date. Please allow a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks from the date of receipt of the completed application to notification of the outcome of the Sponsorship Application Form. You will receive a confirmation phone call or email upon receipt of the application at Columbia Power’s office.
REPORTING
A brief final report outlining the activities and success of the project as well as documentation supporting the expenditures that have been incurred will be required no later than 60 days after the completion of the project.
