Castlegar Community Christmas Celebration
Not even a snowstorm could keep local families away from the first annual Community Christmas celebration held at the Castlegar Complex on Sunday, November 26th from 11 am until 3 pm.

This inaugural event, held in conjunction with the upcoming Winterfest tree lighting ceremony and parade, was sponsored by Columbia Power Corporation and the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, and was organized by local residents Joanne Baker and Pat Foodikoff.

The main focus of this free event was to bring families in our community together for a day of fun that included Christmas craft making using recycled materials. Children had the opportunity to create Christmas centerpieces, gift tags and many different kinds of Christmas tree ornaments--either for their tree at home or to be hung on the downtown Christmas tree during Friday night's tree lighting ceremony.

Adding to the group of 30 volunteers were students from Stanley Humphries Secondary School, who donned costumes and interacted with the children in various activities, such as reindeer games and cake walks. All through the day, a fabulous contingent of local talent entertained the crowd with singing, Highland dancing and even a puppet show. The Castlegar Lions Club was on hand to provide much appreciated refreshments.

Columbia Power Corporation and the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce thank all those families who braved the weather to attend this event, and encourage everyone in the community to join in the Winterfest activities this coming weekend.

BC Rivers Day 2006 BC
Rivers Day 2006 was held on Sunday, September 24th in Gyro Park in Trail. CPC Community Relations staff attended this popular event, sharing a booth with staff from Columbia Basin Trust. Again this year, CPC and CBT provided a free fish pond with prizes for the children. CPC staff are looking forward to attending this event again next year.

Castlegar Sunfest Childrens' Festival 2006
As part of the Castlegar Sunfest Weekend, Columbia Power Corporation once again participated in the Childrens' Festival, held in the Castlegar Spray Park on June 2nd and 3rd, 2006. CPC Community Relations staff hosted their ever-popular beading projects table, and children of all ages participated in creating beaded necklaces and bracelets. CPC staff look forward to attending this popular event again next year.

Trade Fairs 2006
Columbia Power Corporation Community Relations staff attended six trade fairs in the Columbia Basin area from April to May 2006. These events allow staff from CPC to meet residents and discuss the joint venture power projects. CPC will be attending these events again in 2007, and look forward to meeting with residents at that time.
