Community Day at the Brilliant Expansion Project 2005
The first Community Day Open House was held on October 2nd at the Brilliant Expansion Project. Bus and walking tours of the project site were conducted, and free entertainment and refreshments were provided. Close to 2,000 people attended this very successful event. Plans are being made to hold this event again in 2006.


BC Rivers Day 2005
BC Rivers Day was held on Sunday, September 25th in Gyro Park in Trail. CPC Community Relations staff attended this popular event, providing a free fish pond with prizes for the children. During the day's festivities, CPC was presented with an award for their participation in the Upper Columbia River White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative. CPC staff are looking forward to attending this event again next year.


Pass Creek Fall Fair, 2005
The Pass Creek Fall Fair was held on September 24th and 25th in Castlegar. Although CPC did not have a booth at the fair this year, they were pleased to sponsor the very popular Professional Lumberjack show which occurred at various times over the two days.


Land Donated to Nature Trust, June 2005
Fifty-two hectares of land belonging to Columbia Power Corporation and Columbia Basin Trust and located three kilometres northeast of Castlegar has been donated to the Nature Trust. This important over-wintering area is home to white-tailed deer, elk, and moose and is a known breeding habitat of the blue-listed Lewis' Woodpecker and the White-Throated Swift.


Trade Fairs 2005
Columbia Power Corporation Community Relations staff attended six trade fairs in the Columbia Basin area from April to June, 2005. These events allow staff from CPC to meet residents and discuss the joint venture power projects. CPC will be attending these events again in 2006, and look forward to meeting with residents at that time.


Photo Exhibit of Brilliant Expansion Project, March 2005
An exhibit of black and white photos of workers at the Brilliant Expansion Project, taken by local photographer Ursella Heller, and sponsored by Columbia Power Corporation, was held at the Kootenay Gallery of Arts and Science from March 11th to 20th.


Arrow Lakes Fish Fertilization Program 2004/2005
CPC and CBT donated over $193,570 to the 2004/2005 Arrow Lakes Fish Fertilization Project. This is the sixth year that CPC and CBT have been major sponsors of this program. To date, over $1.1 million has been given by CPC and CBT. The program is recognized as the largest lake restoration project in the world.
